VALUE CURVE WITH METRICS



The Value Curve, which can be presented on a single MS ppt slide, is the most powerful tool we have seen to clearly communicate to customers, project team members, portfolio managers and the senior management team “What” must be accomplished to deliver exceptional value to the MIC. If you are not using Value Curves with Metrics, you are working at a major disadvantage.

The Value Curve breaks down a product or service into a set of Elements of Performance. In aggregate these Elements define that product or service (the left side of the Value Curve). The value provided to the Most Important Customer for each Element is plotted on the right side of the Value Curve.

Elements of Performance are listed in order of importance (using Rank Ordering Tools) to the Most Important Customer and a metric (or metrics) for each Element is defined. If you can’t define a metric, it’s not an Element! (e.g., What’s the metric for “Tastes Great” or “Improve Taste”?)
